Recent hurricanes & winter storms have threatened shoreline buildings and we are going to explore the weather that caused this.

The Shell Island Condominium on the south side of Mason Inlet is threatened with undermining by the water. The combination of wind and current has threatened numerous locations in our area, including the northern end of Figure Eight Island, Fort Fisher, and Oak Island.

Your assignment is to research the environmental issues in connection with the decision to use a semi-permanent revetment shown in the photo to preserve the structure of Shell Island resort. Use newspaper articles as well as web pages for this project. Shell Island Dilemma
