Project Overview

Goal:

• To encourage rising ninth grade students to take advanced mathematics and science courses throughout high school. 

Objectives:

• Provide hands-on scientific learning experiences in photonic concepts like robotics, electronics, optics, networking, and technology.
  
• Expose students to the rigor of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers.

Activities:

• Conduct experiments in robotics, optics, electronics, light and technology.
• Construct optical and electrical devices.
• Develop oral and written presentation using real world applications of photonics.
• Visit research labs, communication and technology industries.
• Develop scientific experimentation skills.
• SAT preparation sessions.

Requirements:

Photonics Xplorers program is open to students with a/an:

• B average or higher
• Interest in math and science.
• Parent committed to supporting student throughout the program.
