North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC
Frequently
Asked Questions
-
Why did the conference date change?
The conference date was changed to avoid scheduling conflict with the North Carolina State Writing Test.
-
Is the conference for 8th grade girls?
No, this year the conference is for 7th grade girls.
-
How many students can I bring to EYH?
Each school may bring 7 students NO EXCEPTIONS!
University NC-MSEN groups may bring 14 students. This does
not include school based NC-MSEN groups. We are glad to
add names to a waiting list but make no guarantee that
they will be able to attend.
- Can
private and charter schools attend?
Yes. Any school that enrolls 8th grade girls is eligible
to bring a group.
- Can
home schoolers attend?
Yes, but only if a parent or guardian registers
as a volunteer and serves as a guide or presents a
workshop.
- Will
all of my students attend the same session?
No. We will split your group up so that each school attends workshops on a variety of topics. Each girl will have an opportunity to interact with peers from schools across North Carolina.
- Can
students choose what workshops we attend?
No. Due to the logistics of assigning girls, we are unable to allow girls to pre-choose their workshops or topics. We do make sure each girl attends two workshops on different topics. For example if the first session is about engineering, the second session may be on biology.
- How
many teachers and parents can attend?
We are limiting each school to 2 adults. This year we will feature workshops especially for teachers and parents while the girls are at their own workshops.
- Can teachers select their workshop?
No, we normally separate the teachers and chaperones evenly among the workshops to encourage networking among teachers.
- Will
EYH pay for my substitute teacher?
No. We do not have funds to pay for substitute teachers
on the day of the event.
- What
if my question is not answered here?
Email Janet Bailey,
EYH coordinator or call 919-515-9403.
