Chemistry Resources

[The colored letters next to each title indicate the appropriate grade levels:
E - Elementary, M - Middle School, H - High School]

Countertop Chemistry E M H
a collection of activities using 'kitchen' chemicals

NSF Science & Technology Center for Environmentally Responsible Solvents and Processes E M H
provides activities for exploring carbon dioxide and polymers.

Periodic Table Videos
from Nottingham Unversity, videos for each element of the table including experiments and real world applications.

Chemistry Pathway
Part of the National Science Digital Library, the site is a collaboration that will include collections of the JCE DLib and the ACS Education Division. An innovative element of the project will use tables of contents of textbooks to locate resources. ChemEd DLib will create new communities centered around different educational levels (such as high school, undergraduate), provide resources in different sub-disciplines of chemistry (such as physical), and different pedagogical areas (such as problem-based learning).

Materials Science Pathway
The NSDL Materials Digital Library (MatDL) brings materials science research and education closer together. MatDL is exploring the various roles digital libraries can serve in the materials science community including: 1) supporting a virtual lab, 2) developing markup language applications, and 3) building tools for metadata capture. MatDL is being integrated into an MIT virtual laboratory experience.

American Chemical Society E M H
This site is produced by the ACS and has sections for curriculum materials, student programs and professional development for all grade levels.

The Pharmacology Education Partnership (PEP) H
is an online interactive resource that provides high school teachers with tools to teach biology and chemistry.

Shodor Foundation H
The Shodor Education Foundation Center for Computational Science Education has launched a dedicated computer server that is capable of running research-level calculations on small to medium-sized chemical molecules. The server, funded by BWF and the SMT Center, will provide N.C. high school students and teachers with free access to software for studying individual molecules, reaction mechanisms, and other chemical phenomenon.

Molecular Logic Database H
provides 130 model-based activities for learning about interactions of atoms & molecules, & rule-based genetics.

The Catalyst H
chemistry resources for the secondary science teacher

Science In the Box E M H
includes resources related to soap and cleaning from Proctor and Gamble.

WWW Chemistry Guide H
A collection of links on all chemistry topics. Select Chemistry Education for lesson plan links.
