The Science House Girls Collaborative Project

The Science House Girls Collaborative Project brings together organizations throughout North Carolina that are committed to informing and motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Project is based upon a model developed by the National Girls Collaborative Project and replicated through a grant from the National Science Foundation. The model is structured to bring organizations together to compare needs and resources, share information, and to plan strategically to expand STEM-related opportunities for girls.

Benefits:

  • Mini-grants of $1000 to partnerships developing programs that encourage girls to explore and choose STEM careers
  • A program directory that will allow potential partners with complementary needs to find each other
  • Forums to provide support for partnerships working with girls
  • Resources to help projects evaluate their programs
  • Resources to help develop effective programming and build on what others have learned

The Science House Girls Collaborative Project serves all of North Carolina. In the three years of the grant we hope to expand the collaborative to include South Carolina. Watch this space for dates of the kickoff meeting and the availability of mini-grant applications.

Register in the Program Directory

The Program Directory lists organizations and programs that focus on motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The purpose of this directory is to help organizations and individuals network, share resources, and collaborate on STEM-related projects for girls. The directory contains program descriptions, resources available within each organization, program and/or organization needs, and contact information. There is a search feature on the directory that will allow you to identify others who have compatible needs and resources.

Use the following instructions to create a new user account and then enter a program's information into the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) program directory.

  • Navigate to the NGCP site
  • In the horizontal linkbar, click "Directory"
  • From the left navigation area, click "Login" then "Register New User"
  • Fill out the form and click "Submit" -- this logs you in
  • On the page that appears, click "New Program"
  • Fill out the form and click "Submit" -- this places your program in "pending" status

Once a new program's information has been submitted, a Puget Sound Center administrator (host of the NGCP) will review and approve the program or request more information about the program and then approve the program once the information has been provided.

Part of the approval process for programs located in areas served by collaboratives may involve requesting collaborative input. When approved, Programs appear in the public Directory.
