Notes:
Coral reefs are the most biologically diverse marine ecosystems on earth, rivaled only by
the tropical rainforests. They provide homes and nurseries for almost a million
fish and other species. Incredibly, coral reefs occupy only one quarter of one percent
of the earth's marine environment, yet they are home to more than a quarter of all
known fish species. Letās take a look at these fascinating communities under
the sea that have been in existence for almost 200 million years.
