Western Outreach Coordinator
Located in Lenoir, NC, Gina conducts workshops and demonstration shows, manages an equipment loan program, and assists teachers as they incorporate technology into their science and math curriculum. Gina is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College (B.S. Chemistry) and Appalachian State University (M.A. Instructional Technology) and has experience as an industrial chemist, a high school science teacher, and a science department chairperson. |

Mary Louise Bellamy
K12 Outreach Coordinator
Mary Louise is the K-12 outreach coordinator for the
NSF Science and
Technology Center for Environmentally Responsible Solvents
and Processes. She received her PhD in science education
from the University of Maryland, MAT in Biochemistry
from Emory University, and BA in Zoology from UNC Chapel
Hill. She has taught high school science, served as
Education Director of NABT, and is the author of Biology
Discovery Activities Kit, published by Simon & Schuster. |

Michelle Benigno
Asheville Outreach Coordinator
A graduate of NC State University (B.S. in Biology and Science Education) and Appalachian State University (M.A. in Instructional Technology), Michelle leads workshops, manages an equipment loan, and collaborates with schools to increase inquiry learning in math and science courses. Michelle specializes in using technology and the outdoors to engage students. Michelle is a National Board Certified Teacher and taught high school science for 12 years after which she worked as an instructional coach for secondary education.

Pamela Gilchrist
Science-Technology Specialist
Pamela Gilchrist manages the operations of Photonics Xplorers, Photonics Leaders and Imhotep Academy programs for middle grades and high school students. She is a graduate of East Carolina University with a (B.S.) and (M.Ed. in Instructional Technology). She has taught biology, chemistry, physics, and information communication technology in the United States and United Kingdom.

Dr. Lisa Grable
Pre-College Outreach Coordinator, FREEDM Systems Engineering Research Center
Lisa is the pre-college outreach coordinator for the FREEDM (Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management Systems Center) Systems Center, a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center. She received her PhD and Master's of Education in science education from NC State University, and BS in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary. She has taught science at the middle, high school, and college level, serves in leadership roles for the American Association of Physics Teachers and the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education, and is an Adjunct Professor of Instructional Technology in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. |

Beth Snoke Harris manages the Science House web site and newsletter. Beth is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill (BS Physics) and NC State (MEd Instructional Technology) and has taught high school physics for several years. |

Dr.
Joyce Hilliard-Clark
Coordinator of the Imhotep Academy
Dr. Clark works hard organizing the year-round Imhotep
Academy for middle school students and Photonics Programs for high school students. She is a graduate
of Bennett College (B.S.), NCA&T University (M.S.) and
NC State (Ph.D.). Dr. Clark has ten years of experience
as a biology and physical science teacher and has also
acted as Executive Director of the Research Triangle
Science and Mathematics Partnership and as Associate
Director for the Pre-College Programs of the Mathematics
and Science Education Network at UNC-CH.

Colleen Karl
Northeastern Outreach Coordinator
Colleen supports educators in inquiry based science
programming and utilizes outdoor locations for hands-on
learning experiences. She holds a B.S. in Marine Science
from Southampton College of Long Island University,
and is a National Board certified teacher in Adolescent
and Young Adult Science. |

Scott Ragan
Professional Development Coordinator
Scott coordinates many of the workshops and professional
development activities of The Science House. He has
a great deal of experience in using technology in math
and science education. He has also coordinated three
successful NSF projects: Team Science, EMPOWER, and
the first year of the Science and Technology Center.
Scott, a former high school science teacher, has B.S.
degrees in Science Education and Environmental Engineering
from NCSU. |

Shawn Reintjes
Jacksonville Outreach Coordinator
Shawn runs the equipment loan program, conducts professional
development workshops and assists teachers with inquiry
activities for the science classroom. Shawn has fourteen
years teaching experience in both elementary and middle
school science. She is a Toyota Tapestry Large Grant
winner and was selected as the 2002-2003 Christa McAuliffe
Fellow for the State of North Carolina. |

Sharon Schulze
Director
Dr. Schulze served as Associate Director of The Science House from 2003-2007 and currently serves as Director. She manages the day-to-day operations, works with various grant-funded projects, and actively pursues collaborations and partnerships to improve K-12 STEM education in North Carolina and across the country. Dr. Schulze has high school classroom experience in physics and mathematics. A native Texan and graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Schulze started her work in North Carolina at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. |

Jennifer Sharp
Fayetteville Outreach Coordinator
Jennifer teaches workshops, manages an equipment loan program, and helps teachers incorporate technology into the science and mathematics curricula. She is also a doctoral student at NC State, working toward a degree in Science Education with a focus on chemistry education. She received her BS in chemistry from NC State and her MA in Education from Austin Peay State University. She taught high school chemistry in Tennessee and worked as a research/teaching assistant through the Friday Institute and College of Education. |

Professor of Chemistry
Alton Banks is Professor of Chemistry at NC State. He develops instructional software to facilitate the teaching of chemistry. He also works with middle & high school faculty to involve technology in the teaching of science and mathematics. |

Dr. David G. Haase
Senior Scientist
David Haase is an Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Professor of Physics at NC State and was the Director of The Science House (1991-2007). He is a graduate of Rice and Duke Universities. He teaches physics, conducts research in nuclear physics, and assists with various Science House projects. |

Dr. John C. Park
Associate Professor of Math and Science Education
John Park has been in the Science Education program at NC State since 1985. He is a graduate of Anderson College (B.A.) and Ohio State University (M.A., Ph.D.). He is a principal investigator of many ongoing grant projects at The Science House. In particular, he is Project Director of the Science Junction web site and the group leader of the SERVIT research group.

Dr. William Switzer
Professor of Chemistry
Bill Switzer travels across NC to present his Chemistry on the Road program as well as teacher workshops. For K-8, he offers a program on States of Matter using liquid nitrogen and dry ice as the focus for discussion. For 6-12, he offers a program on Chemical Energy Transformations. He also offers Operation Chemistry workshops to teachers. The Department of Chemistry outreach page describes these activities in more detail.
