With the support of NC State University and the Glaxo-Wellcome Foundation, the northwest outreach program was implemented so that The Science House could extend to the western part of the state the types of programs that have been offered in Eastern NC. The Northwest Satellite Office is located in The Education Center in Lenoir and serves schools in Caldwell, Catawba, Burke, Wilkes, Avery, Watauga, Alexander, Ashe, Iredell, Lincoln, Gaston, and Cleveland counties. |

After participating in technology training from The Science House, teachers located in the Northwest Satellite Office's service area are eligible to borrow MBL (Micro-computer Based Lab) equipment, CBL (Calculator-Based Lab) equipment, Vernier LabQuests, probes, and GPS units for use in their classrooms. The service area for the equipment loan at the Northwest Satellite Office in Lenoir includes: Caldwell, Catawba, Burke, Wilkes, Alexander, Ashe, Watauga and Iredell counties.
