PL2 is a year-round hybrid science and information technology program for rising tenth grade students, parents, and teachers. We are aggressively recruiting students and teachers to engage in hands-on Physics investigations, virtual sessions, industry and laboratory tours to discover the wonders of Photonics (optics, laser technology, electronics, and computer hardware). Upon successful completion of program activities, they receive stipends and scholarships for their participation.
The program goals are to:
During the 2009 year, the program served 38 rising tenth graders and their parents (50% African-American, 18.4% Caucasian, 13.2% Asian, 10.5% Hispanic/Latino, 5.3% Multi-Racial, and 2.6% Middle Eastern) from the following NC counties: Alamance, Chatham, Guilford, Johnston, Lenoir, Robeson, and 19 middle and high school teachers (60% Caucasian, 32% African-American and 5% Hispanic/Latino) from North Carolina, Maryland and Virginia.
