The Science House, with sponsorship from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, will host an Invitational Conference on K-12 Outreach from University Science Departments in the Research Triangle Park, April 8-10, 2008. This is the seventh in the series of such conferences.
The 2008 Conference will focus on the many ways in which STEM professionals can become involved in K-12 science and mathematics education. Invited speakers will discuss successful programs, there will be ample time for talking with other science and education professionals, and the Proceedings will be a K-12 guidebook for STEM faculty.
STEM professionals and educators will be invited to participate. For more information see the website above or email Conference Co-Chair David Haase.
The
purpose of the Conference is to gather representatives
from universities across the US to review and discuss
K-12 outreach projects from university science departments.
Additionally, representatives from each of the science
departments in UNC system campuses and other colleges
in North Carolina will be invited, with the goal of developing
partnerships for action.
Participants
are invited to contribute poster presentations. A Proceedings
Volume consisting of invited and contributed papers will
be assembled. Faculty interested in participating or presenting
at the Conference should contact the Conference Co-Chairs.
As
the Conference Program is developed, further information
and schedules will be posted at this site.
Because of the support from the sponsors, there is no
Conference Registration fee.
