Inside The Classroom

What help do you have for in the classroom?

These resources are to help educators conduct hands-on mathematics and science in the classroom. Please explore all the resources we have and let us know if we can improve our resources.

Educator Idea Swap

The Idea Swap is a blog for all educators to use to share their thoughts. A blog is often referred to as a bullitan board. We are excited to offer this new service to you! This blog is to help improve communication and the flow of ideas in the education community.

Enter Idea Swap Forum: Click to enter our Idea Swap blog. Here you can read messages left by others and post messages of your own!

*By entering this blog, you agree to use it appropriately. Appropriate use includes, but is not limited to, not using profanity and not making false claims. Professional communication is expected.

Why Teach With Inquiry-Based Labs?

At first glance, inquiry-based science can seem like a lot of extra work for no reason. However, this is simply not true. Inquiry-based labs help students learn! Students are engaged in the learning process.

Read Reasons for Inquiry-Based Labs: Click to read the reasons that you should use inquiry-based labs in your classroom.

Tips for Hands-On Science

Hands-on science in the classroom can be a handful! There are many ways to make hands-on science easier for you to conduct. These tips will make you more comfortable with hands-on science, help your labs run smoothly, and help with the cost!

Read our Tips: Click to read the tips we have compiled from our workshops and experiences. Feel free to post any tips of your own in the idea swap.

Lab Manual Supplements

We often create additional materials to enhance activities in our lab manuals. Periodically we will post some of these resources here.

"Sparkling Water" Story: Click to download the story in Word format (.doc).This story is often read or acted out by participants when we conduct the "Sparkling Water" Lab. This lab can be found in Unit Two of "Environmental Science: A Collection of Activies for the High School Classroom" and was created by Project WET.

NC SCOS Correlations: Click to download the new matrix for the middle school manual in Word format (.doc). This matrix has been updated to use the new (and now current) North Carolina Science Standard Course of Study. All of the activities from "Environmental Science: A Collection of Activities for the Middle School Classroom" are correlated in this matrix.
